Students at two local schools got a chance to understand where food comes from and the importance of eating local and healthy foods as part of World Food Day on Wed, Oct. 16, 2013.
Students crunched on a delicious and nutritious carrot at the event sponsored by the Heritage Community Association, REACH (Regina Education and Action on Child Hunger), Regina Catholic Schools, Regina Public Schools and Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region. St. Augustine Community School and Thomson Community School hosted the events, in which approximately 500 students and teachers participated. Pratts Food Service supplied the carrots.
The Big Crunch was an opportunity for students and teachers to celebrate World Food Day, get excited about healthy eating, learn about our food system and highlight availability of local produce.
